Power supply for GPS trackers

In view of rising crime rates worldwide, protecting property such as vehicles, solar systems and other valuable goods is becoming increasingly important. Modern, compact GPS trackers with integrated GSM or GPRS modems and antennas offer an effective way to locate stolen objects more quickly and significantly reduce response times.

The challenge here is the energy source. If a tracker is not permanently connected to the mains or to energy sources such as solar modules or small wind generators, it must have a reliable, weather-independent power supply. This must work reliably even under extreme temperature and humidity conditions, supply high peak currents for the modem and at the same time allow flexible adjustment of voltage and current.

VARTA Microbattery offers the technical solution for this: hermetically sealed, rechargeable Ni-MH button cells that have been specially developed for an extended temperature range from –20°C bis +85°C.
The recommended configurations – e.g. 3/V500 HT oder 4/V500 HT – can be individually adapted to customer requirements in terms of size and voltage.
